Super Sixes
Away to Norfolk Bowling Club the Ladies A Team were looking for a good result. Shirley Lettice, Lillian Barber and Mel Haylett went 6-8 down at 5 ends, but a super six on the 8th catapulted them into a 14-9 lead and went on to a good 21-10 win. Jenny Ramsbottom, Elaine Cole and Geraldine Reeve were 6-3 up at 5 ends , 6-10 down at 8, but here too a super six put them 12-10 up and went on to win 19-13. Jenny Kirby’s block lost 7-12 while Marion Himpleman’s Block went from 5-0 up to eventually lose 7-15. However this was a great team result 54 – 50 and 6 – 2 pts.
Mens A with another Win
At home to Lynnsport the Mens A team were hoping for another win.
Result 87 – and 5 ½ – 1 ½ pts
Mens B struggle at Pentney
Johnstone Mackie, Will Jeffries, Brian Grint and Wyn Willimott went 7-1 up at 7 ends and 12-7 at 13 but by 17 ends it was 12 each, a take out shot put them one playing the final end and a toucher on that final end gave them a 18-16 win. Barney Wymer’s rink were 12-2 up after 10 ends and 15-4 after 14, but then it went wrong dropping 15 shots over the final 7 ends and lost 16-19. Josh Baxter’s rink were 10 each at 11, 13-14 at 16 but finished 16-19. Paul Webb’s rink dropped a 5 on the12th to be 4-17 down then stormed back to 15-18 on 18 but it wasn’t to be as they lost 16-22.
Result 66-76 and 1 – 6 pts.
Leaves on the Line at Lowestoft.
The Mens C Team went off to Lowestoft to play the Railway and were derailed. Richard Pope, Peter Evans, David Crosby and Ken Copeman picked up a 5 on the 5th and by 10 ends were 11-6 up, by 15 it was 14-11 and despite dropping a 4 on the 19th secured a 19-16 win. Alan Kendall’s rink kept it tight to 10-12 at 13 ends but here they found leaves on the line and lost 11-20 . John Lettice rink found themselves 1-12 down after 9 ends but a head of steam brought them back to 13 each at 15 but stuck there and lost 14-21. Mick Askham’s rink went from 8-2 up at 6 to 9-13 at 12 and only winning 7 ends lost 11-27.
Ladies B meet C
It was the local Derby as the Ladies B played the Ladies C. Pam Symes, Jackie Smith and Rose Yaxley for the B played 9 year old Tia Linford and 13 year old Kacey Cook with Val Giles and the B were 12-5 up after 7, 13 each at 11 and finished with a scoring draw 14 each. Pam Hollis , Sue Moore and Shirley Genery played Mollie Hayton, Viv Newton and Pauline Lewis another close game 7-9 at 7; 13-10 at 10 and finished 15-11. Caroline Hines, Jude Ward and Sue Smith played Jayne Greenacre, Fran Pope and Val Hearne, the B scoring a 6 on the 3rd which was the difference in the game as it finished 16-9. Sandra Faircloth, Zoe Roberts and Julia Crosby played Wendy Woolastan, Jane Mann and Hazel Jarvis and here the B Team dominated going on to win 32-2.
Result 77 – 36 and 7 – 1 pts for the B Team
