Scoring Draw
At home to Wymondham A Acle Ladies A were hoping to continue their run of success. Shirley Lettice, Amy Barker and Jenny Kirby went 6-0 up after 5 ends, made it 11-3 at 10 and went on to win 12-6. Brenda Cole, Pat Dickinson and Marion Himpleman lost the first 4 ends to be 0-5 down but were level at 6 each by 9 ends and went on to secure victory winning 10-7. Geraldine Reeves block came back from 2-7 down to 10-7 up but in a tight final end dropped a 3 and lost 13-15. Mel Haylett’s block started with a 4 on the first end but then struggled and lost 6-13.
Result 41 shots each and 4 – 4 pts
Double Delight
Playing County Arts in the Denny was not going to be easy and would need full concentration with the rules changed to 18 ends or 3 ½ hours. Away Daniel Seabourne, Dan Mils, Daniel Noble and Ian Wones and a close game , 5-4 up at 5 and 10 each at 10, went 16-11 up at 15 and went on to win 17-14. Also away was Mark Elliott, Geoff and Dan Ramsbottom with Jason Roope were looking to make a good start and went 9-1 up at 5, 14-2 at 10, this rink was setting the pace and went on to a convincing 19-8 win. Will Pitt, Ivan Borrett, Simon Elliott and Jamie Howlett started well going 11-5 up at 10 ends but from there were on the back foot and lost 13-15. Ryan Stanton, Matthew Sparrow, Graham Punchard and George Tubby went 8-3 up at 5, 12-11 at 10 then 15-13 at 15 but lost 15-19.
Result 64 – 56 and now play Browston in the next round.
Yetton Win
Playing Browston in the first round of the Yetton Trophy, another competition changed to 18 ends the Ladies were hopeful of a good result. At home Shirley Lettice, Jenny Ramsbottom, Gwyn Xuereb and Marion Himpleman were 10-9 at 10 ends but then scored a 5 and by 15 ends had moved to 20-11 up and won 22-13. Margaret Arnold, Lillian Barber, Elaine Cole and Jenny Kirby were 7-4 at 5 but by 10 were 17-5, all playing well went on to win 22-12.Away Joy Pearson, Brenda Cole, Barbara Meeks and Geraldine Reeve went 5-2 at 5 and 11-7 at 10 kept the opposition poor as they went on to win 15-14. Lynne Cannell, Edna Land, Jess Ward and Mel Haylett were 4-10 down at 10 but were aware that they needed to keep it tight as the other rinks were doing well , and finished 12-21.
Result 71-60 and play Diss in the next round.
