Mens A with Big Win
At home to Norfolk Bowling Club the Mens A Team were looking to keep their bid for the title alive despite having Dan Mills and George Tubby at Ely on National Trials. Daniel Seabourne, Geoff Ramsbottom, Simon Elliott and Jamie Howlett were 12-13 down at 12 ends but then finished in style winning 27-15. Ryan Stanton, John Sparrow, Tony Dunton and Danny Ramsbottom up against Scottish open Quarter finalist Wayne Willgress, were 11-9 at 14 ends and here too finished well winning 6 of the 7 final ends to win 25-10. Mark Elliott, Roy Himpleman, Graham Punchard and Jason Roope were on top form going 18-3 up at 10 ends continued the onslaught to be 26-7 at 17 and won 27-14. Ian Wones rink went fron 6-1 up to 8-10 down then 16-15 at 18 but lost this close encounter 16-21.
Result 95 – 60 and 6 – 1 pts to remain 2nd in the table.

Mens B Secure Away Win
Away to Dereham A the Mens B Team needed a win to kick off their season with a win but knew how different the green would be. John Marshall Arthur Jolliffe, Paul Webb and Barney Wymer Came from 0-6 down to 11-8 up at 10 ends, getting use to the conditions they moved to 16-10 at 15 ends and playing well won 23-11. Ian Anderson, Brian Kirby, Andy Flynn and Brian Grint were 3-10 down after 6 ends came back to 10 each at 8, a 5 on the 13th made it 16-13 , a 4 and two out of rinks helped it to 20-16 going on to a deserved 24-18 win. Ian Wilson , Will Jeffries, Gogo Harris and Wyn Willimott started well going 12-4 up at 10 ends, then 17-10 at 16,all four on form kept the game tight and won 18-14. Josh Baxter’s rink found the end rink difficult and were 5-21 down at 11 ends but gritted their teeth and fought back and finished 17-27.
Result 82-70 and 6-1 pts

Ladies with Another Win
Away to Norfolk Bowling Club B the Ladies A were hoping for another win. Joy Pearson, Marie Morton and Jenny Kirby were 8-1 at 5 ends then 16-3 at 10 and won 20-4. Shirley Lettice, Brenda Cole and Geraldine Reeve were 7 each at 9 ends then won the remaining ends including a 5 to win17-7. Sheila Stacey, Lillian Barber and Barbara Meeks picked up a 5 on the 2nd end and by 10 ends were 13-3 and went on to win 22-3. Mel Haylett’s block were 3-10 down at 7 ends came back but lost 9-14.
Result 68-28 and 7 – 1 pts to keep top of the table.
Ladies B v Ladies C
Acle Ladies B played Acle C and it was Sophie Blanche, Jean Claxton and Sue Smith who lead the way for the B team scoring a 6 on the 8th end to go 14-4 up and went on to win 21-6. Jackie Smith, Sue Moore and Rose Yaxley were 9-0 up at 5 ends , 12-7 at 10 and won 14-9. The B Team didn’t have it all their own way though as 9 year old Tia Linford, 13 year old Kacey Cook with Val Giles came back from 1-5 down to get 2 on the final end to draw 10 each against Sandra Faircloth, Zoe Roberts and Julia Crosby. The block of Linda Brown, Jenny Woolaston and June Thomas for the C Team scored a 5 on the 5th end to go 7-5 up by 10 they were 13-7 and went on to victory 15-11.
Result Acle B 56 Acle C 40 and a win for the B Team 6 ½ – 1 ½ pts
