Men’s A Lose
The A Team were given a soundly beating away to Norfolk Bowling Club, losing 7-0 ,101-64 and top spot in the league.
Daniel Seabourne, Tony Dunton, Graham Punchard and George Tubby lost 30-17. Taking a four on the first end they dropped a 7 on the next end and although they recovered to 9-7 down they then dropped two more fours and two threes.
Jim Fruin, Danny Mills, Daniel Noble and Ian Wones lost 20-17. Always behind they trailed 6-5 at 6 ends but gradually slipped to 17-7 down at 14 ends. A spirited fight back saw them get back to within 3 with two to play and holding shot. An excellent last bowl by Ric Summers gave them the shot and a four-shot lead going into the last end.
Will Pitt, Matty Sparrow, Simon Elliott and Jamie Howlett lost 27-18. On the back foot from outset they were 12-4 down at 10 ends. They fought back to 22-17 down with 3 ends to play, only to drop 2 and 3 on successive ends.
Mark Elliott, Ivan Borrett, Danny Ramsbottom and Jason Roope lost 24-12. A slow start saw them 9-1 down at 5 ends. The deficit remained at 8 up until 12 ends but a four lost on the 13th made a fight back difficult. Back to 12-18 down at 19 ends they dropped a further 5
A Sunday Win
On Sunday, the A Team played County Arts at home who were on the same number of points and therefore a win essential. Will Pitt, Dan Mills, Simon Elliott and Jamie Howlett found themselves 4-13 down at 8 ends then 13 each at 11 and here the voodoo stuck with the opposition failing to score for 10 ends as Acle went 23-13 at 17 ends and went on to win 29-18. Mark Elliott, Roy Himpleman, Dan Ramsbottom and Jason Roope were 7 each at 10, but a 5 on the 12th made it 13-7 and went on to win 23-14. George Tubby’s rink went from 12-4 up at 8 to 15 each at 16 and in a close finish lost 17-19. Ian Wones rink were 4-14 down at 11 ends but a 5 on the 17th made it 16 each and in another close finish lost 18-23.
Result 87 – 74 and 5 – 2 pts
Another Big Win for Men’s C
The Men’s C Team continued there run with a 122-shot win, with Captain Mick Askham winning 53 – 1 and a 6 – 1 win next Saturday away at Browston will win them the League.
Richard Hayton, Derrick Willgress, Brian Hearn and Mick Askham went from 21-1 up at 10 ends to 37-1 at 15, scoring three 5’s and four 4’s in their 53-1 win. Jeff Chedwidden, Mick Crow, Colin Starkings and Alan Jones were 17-1 at 5, 30-1 at 10, 37-4 at 15 winning 45-7. Richard Pope, Barry McGrath, Peter Evans and John Lettice were 15-3 at 10, 24-6 at 15 and won 36-7. David Wise, David Airey, Ken Scott-Greenard and Alan Kendall were 10-6 at 10 then scored a 5, by 17 ends it was 17 each but concentration and cool heads gave them a 21-18 win.
Result 155 – 33 and all 7 pts
